Customers Fault Description : The gas rate adjustment knob continually turns to the left to the maximum position and clicks continuously, even when the pilot was out!. Also,when I use the remote control handset, the red light on the receiving unit does not turn on when I press the lower button (to decrease gas rate). It only lights when I press the two buttons together to increase the rate. So the fault is either in the remote control handset or the receiving unit - both attached. The only way to stop the continuous clicking was to take a battery out of the receiving unit. The fire is working in manual mode.

 

This remote and receiver arrived safely and was found to be  non functioning "lower" button was being received in the receiver. The remote was tested and found to be sending the signal which led to the receiver being at fault. 

Once the receiver was opened there crystal oscillator (40khz) was found to have a corroded leg which was the cause of the problem, this was replaced and full functionality was restored (see testing video)
