Roller Brake Tester Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : Roller
Model : Brake Tester
Customers Fault Description : buttons 0 2 3 dont work all the time
This remote arrived and on first inspection the buttons on the top row were exposed, also there was a piece of the casing missing from the bottom of the remote / battery compartment.
The handset was opened to check the electronic functionality and apart from a few suspect solder joints no problem was found. All functions can be triggered by shorting out the ribbon cable extension on certain pins.
Sadly the front membrane is the cause of the fauly, as part of the "skin" is missing there will be oxidization and contamination inside the membrane, due to the extent of the damage to the membrane any attempt at removal will undoubtedly render the remote totally non functioning.
After obtaining permission to go ahead with a membrane repair, luckily a full functionality repair was carried out and a replacement facia cover was fitted. It is recommended that the customer Clone the remote in case of future problems as replacement remotes are very expensive for this type of equipment.
