Magiglo Custom 18 ES51149/2 Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Magiglo Custom 18

Model : ES51149/2

Customers Fault Description : Batteries corroded in receiver and black and red wire detached from circuit board no issues with the remote control

This remote and receiver arrived safely and on first inspection the remote was working fine and sending a signal but the receiver batter compartment was corroded as well as the black wire being detached.

The battery compartment was replaced with a AAA sized module and resoldered to the PCB.  This powered the board but the output was being dragged down from 6 volts to less than 1 volt.

A full component check was carried out but no problem could be found.  It was almost given up on and classed as beyond repair untill a small amount of leakage crystals was found around the LED. this was cleaned up and the LED replaced but sadly the problem persisted.  It was only by accident that when the new LED was taken out a voltage was noticed.

It seems that when the LED is present the board voltage is dragged down and when removed it bypassed the problem.  Therefore the LED has been removed permanently so that the fire receiver can function but this does mean that there is no indicator light present.
