IMET I-33070 Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : IMET

Model : I-33070

Customers Fault Description : No power from battery to remote ( battery has 6volts )

This IMET remote control arrived safely and well packaged.

Initial inspection revealed that the battery terminals were highly contaminated and partially corroded due to moisture.  The battery itself was also showing signs of corrosion.  One of the terminals on the battery had a hole in the copper contact caused by Arcing from poor contact with the respective terminal.

The battery also was found to have no charge whatsoever and as a charger is not present with us we cannot test its charge ability here therefore we rigged the handset up with a bench power supply and could not get the controller to function.

Voltage checks inside the handset were carried out and there was no voltage coming from the terminals, this was due to the amount of corrosion / contamination.

The terminals were etched back and fully cleaned of all contaminants and then a coating of silver conductive paint was applied to ensure full contact with the power source.  The bench power supply was reapplied and when retested the control was then fully functional (See testing Video).

Even though we cannot test the battery with a charger i have etched back the contacts and applied silver conductive paint to the contacts.  The battery is to be tested by the customer to see if it holds a charge, if it doesn't then a replacement battery will need to be obtained by the customer from the relevant supplier.  The battery itself is not covered by our service charge / guarantee.
