Customers Fault Description : One of the 2 controllers just has all the screen lit up as in testing the LCD and the other has correct screen, but no operation of Ac unit. Both do not operate ac unit.

 

These remotes arrived safely.  On first inspection the screen on one of the remotes had a crack in it, also some of the battery terminals in both handsets had signs of corrosion.

The first remote P/N 97780040 to be looked at was opened. The screen itself was stuck on with all of the display pixels illuminated.  There was a rubber cement on the PCB around the crystal oscillator that had gone brown in color.  This is known to become conductive over time, therefore the rubber cement was removed and the board cleaned off, this fixed the display issue but there was still a problem with some of the buttons, the contacts on the board were showing signs of wear, the buttons were rejuvenated and full functionality was restored.

The first remote 453130700R was opened and immediately it was noticed that the same button wear was present, again the buttons were rejuvenated and full functionality was restored.

The battery terminals were also cleaned of corrosion and replated.
