Tangent - Cinque 11188 Remote Repair Details

Customers Fault Description : Remote was working before being put into storage (because of a house move) now seems to be dead? Have fitted new batteries (recommended by manufacturer) CR2025 and CR2032 - neither work

 

This remote arrived safely and well packaged with a button battery separate in another envelope.

Upon fitting the battery and testing the handset it was found to be not transmitting an infra red signal at all.

When the remote was opened the reason became apparent.  The battery terminal was flattened more than usual which meant that the battery was not in contact with it.

This is most likely due to it being in storage for a while but can also happen if a batter is inserted the wrong way round as it will cause the terminal to flatten further than normal.

The terminal was re-callibrated and a full clean of the pads / pcb was carried out.  Full functionality was restored.  I have also added a photo showing the correct battery orientation below for future reference as this problem can reoccur if the battery is inserted incorrectly in the future.
