Powakaddy Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Powakaddy

Customers Fault Description : Sometimes it's fine but mostly it doesn't work

This Power Caddy remote arrived safely, first inspection showed that the battery cover was missing.

On applying a power source the remote flashed continuously without a button being pressed.  When the handset was opened there was many badly soldered joints found, these were resoldered and the board cleaned up.  The ribbon cable to the main board from the button array also had a discoloured track which was signs of water damage within the array, but this was not the problem as continuity checks revealed that hte button array was reading fine.

Testing was again carried out and the remote did in fact function properly for a short while then it ceased again to function, the only way to get it back on again was to remove the power source and reapply it.

A component check revealed no immediate problems and therefore it was concluded that the main IC was at fault which sadly is not available.
