Mertik Maxitrol Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Mertik

Model : Maxitrol

Customers Fault Description : Unit drains battery when left connected, work ok if you connect battery use it and then disconnect battery.

This fireplace remote arrived safely and on adding a power source was found to be transmitting.  As the fault description was that it drains batteries it was left in situe with a power source fitted and sure enough it did drain a battery after a short time.

This was found to be due to a small amount of contamination around one of the main ICs.  This was shorting out 2 pins causing it to drain the battery, once cleaned the remote was left for over a week with a battery inserted and it remained at full charge.
