Mertik Maxitrol Remote Transmitter G30-ZRHTT / Receiver G30-ZRRTT / Cable G30-ZRCTT Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Mertik Maxitrol

Model : Remote Transmitter G30-ZRHTT / Receiver G30-ZRRTT / Cable G30-ZRCTT

Customers Fault Description : Flame reduction does not work (likely 40khz crystal failure similar to case 2306 on Youtube).

This Valor Legend G3 Gas Fireplace remote control and receiver arrived safely from Canada and on inspection the receiver had signs of corrosion in its battery compartment (see image).

On testing the receiver was not responding when the remotes down channel was activated.  This was actually found to be a problem with the remote itself, usually this is caused by a faulty crystal oscillator but a replacement was fitted and the issue remained.  A component test was carried out and eventually it was deduced that the issue was caused by a faulty IC which is not available.

The customer was contacted and told about the situation and they are purchasing a replacement control.  The battery block on the receiver was replaced with a new one, please note always use good quality batteries in the receivers as they do suffer from bad corrosion when cheaper batteries are used.
