Mertix Maxitrol Remote Repair Details

Customers Fault Description : I am sending the remote control and the receiver unit that fits in the fire. I allowed the batteries in the receiver unit to degrade and they leaked badly. I cleaned up the corrosion as much as possible and fitted new batteries but the fire does not operate fully. THe fire will ignite and you can turn it up to maximum but you cannot then turn the fire down or off.

 

This fireplace remote and receiver arrived safely and on inspection the receiver was confirmed to have a badly corroded battery block due to a battery leakage.

On opening the corrosion was also found on various parts of the PCB (See image).  The battery block was bypassed and the receiver powered on which brung it to life but sadly the UP channel +6v voltage was missing.  Sadly due to the amount of damage around on of the IC's this has deemed a repair not possible.
